Alpha’s comprehensive live streaming news service includes Regulatory News from all Primary Information Providers (RNS Newswire, PR Newswire, Waymaker Wire News, Business Wire, PIMS UK, Newslink Network, Hugin Announce) and is supplemented by Dow Jones Newswires feed covering broader market news. Alpha also receives Corporate Actions bulletins for UK companies.
As is common thoughout Alpha, there are various ways to monitor news to ensure you don’t miss important announcements.
You can view news windows for the entire market or for specific stocks or portfolios. You can link news windows to stock lists so that the news feed changes to reflect the stock you are currently looking at.
For example, look at the first two sample screen layouts on the right. In the first (fig.1), which gives an overview of the market, we have the full news feed.
If you wish to look at a particular stock in more detail, and switch to a stock-specific screen layout (fig. 2), the news window can now be linked to the stock selected in the EPIC list, in this case Persimmon.
Notice in fig. 3 that by hovering the cursor over the news flags in a list of stocks, the headlines for that stock can be displayed.
News windows can be filtered to include only stories for particular geographical regions, sectors or topics (fig. 4).
You can also word-search the entire news database using the simple Boolean commands that work in web search engines such as Google (fig. 5).
Alternatively, you can set news alerts for specific stocks or portfolios. Look at the screen shot on the right (fig. 6); the user has maximised the level 2 screen for Standard Chartered but Alpha has displayed a news alert for Barclays.
Alpha maintains a database of Directors’ and Major Shareholders’ dealings so you can quickly analyse the activities of specific investors or Directors. You can sort this database by date, deal size, deal type, company name and investor name (fig. 7).
